This Bi-Monthly study of the Holy Scpirtures: Prayer
Last night when I went out to my van to get a notebook, I happen to glance up into the night sky, and I saw a beautiful blue meteor falling to earth. I found myself telling God how beautiful it was and how wonderful he is. The Bible tells us in Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork’s. I remember as a young boy I used to go out in my parents backyard and lie on the picnic table and look up into the starry night sky; being amazed on the pure number of stars and thinking to myself how wonderful and powerful our God truly is. The very God that created those stars created me as well, and loved me and you enough to die on the cross for our sins and raise the 3rd day declaring victory over death and the grave. This is the very same God that wants us to come to him in prayer. As Christians we do not have to go though any one or anything to pray to the true and living God. We need no man to plead our case, we need not seek out a declared saint but we can go directly to the majestic throne room of our Heavenly Father.

Prayer is a very awesome thing. We can have audience and fellowship with the one that divided the waters for Moses and the children of Israel, the one that protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace as Nebuchadzzar heated the furnace 7 times more than what it was to be heated. The one that was born of a virgin. The one that bore our sins and with his strips are we healed. The one that died on the cross of Calvary for the sins of the world. The Lord wants us to spend more time with him; than we desire ourselves.

I would like to share with you a few things that the Lord has taught me over the years.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. God does not mean that we should walk around uttering prayers all day but we should be in an attitude of prayer. Thinking of the things of God and his Holy Word. As we meditate on the Lord we need to consider how we should approach his holy throne. If I had the opportunity to visit the President of the United States how would I approach his office. Would I stroll into oval office as though it was my on or would I knock and enter with respect and awe. Humbled at his very presence. My friend pray is not only a time of fellowship with the Lord but a time of worship. The psalmist David put it this way in Psalms 5: 1-7 "1 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; for unto thee will I pray. 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. 4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. 5 The foolish shall not stand in they sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. 6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. 7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple." Before we start to pour out our many requests to the Lord we need first to take time to worship him and tell him how much we love him. As the Lord walked with Adam and Eve in the coolness of the day, he desires to walk with you as well. The Lords wants to spend time with you building a relationship that will be able to weather the many storms of life. He wants you to come to him during the time when the sun is shining and the birds or singing as well as the times when you feel that everything is upside down and the storms or tossing you ever which way but loss. He wants you to know he is there with you as he was with Moses and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego . Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and for ever.

The Bible says we have not because we ask not in James 4: 2-3. Our attitude must be right with the Lord. When we ask, are we asking to for our on glorification or will the Lord get the glory. I am not saying that God will not give us the desire of our heart. If our hearts are right with the Lord then our desires will be as well. Many time blessing are withheld because we are not bring our protection to the Lord. We must ask the Lord. If we gave our children everything before they ask they will soon grow lazy and loss respect. Sometimes the Lord well answer no and sometimes he will say wait. What ever the answer is we must trust him because he is watching out for us when we cannot see what is before us. Prayer is a powerful force when utter by a Christ center Christian. There is one pray that the Lord well always answers. That is Lord I am a sinner forgive me and come into my heart as my Lord and Saviour.
